Idea First Design

Idea First Design

What does that mean?

A good design, its appearance, its meaning, is the first impression you make as a company. Whether it’s a business card, ad, email or website, the idea and the message it sends is only as memorable as the thought you’ve put into it.

Over the years graphic design and marketing has evolved into two categories. There is the template driven, DIY style I like to call “The Kitchen Sink.” It throws EVERYTHING the designer wants to say into a basket, arranges it in a way that looks appealing and then presents it to the public. This may be fine for the DIYer and blogger but it rarely succeeds as a marketing strategy or generates a compelling message.

The other, truly well-thought-out design, communicates a specific message in a creative way and doesn’t leave its interpretation up to the viewer. It takes that same mess of information, thoughts, quotes, and analytics, and focuses it into a great visual and verbal concept that pulls meaning from the mess. This extra layer of meaning is what makes a great design pop, what makes it memorable. This is Idea First Design.
